The Best 4th of July Rice Krispie recipe

These Rice Krispies come out looking fantastic and they taste amazing! Ahria had a blast helping me drizzle and sprinkle them.

Nothing’s worse than anticipating a yummy, gooey rice krispie only to bite into a dry brick. Right?! This little trick will add the gooey-ness to your rice krispies that you’ve always wanted!

You will need:
2 16-ounce bags Miniature Marshmallows, divided
6 tbsp Unsalted Butter
2 tsp Vanilla Paste or extract (this paste is my absolute favorite)
12 cups Rice Krispies (I like to buy the giant off-brand bags)
White Chocolate or Candy Coating (We used CandiQuik)
Lollipop Sticks (optional)

This is a pretty big batch. It made 13 stars and a good amount of scrap to snack on. Which was fine with us but you may want to cut the recipe in half if you only want a few.

Instructions:

  1. Start by melting the butter in a large pot.
  2. Add one bag of Miniature Marshmallows. Stir until completely melted.
  3. Add vanilla.
  4. On low heat, add half the Rice Krispies at a time and mix thoroughly.
  5. Now here’s the trick! Add another half bag (or a little more!) of miniature marshmallows and mix. You can do this over low heat to get gooey melted marshmallows or take it off the heat and add them for chunkier bites.

6. Place your gooey mix onto a pan. Using wax paper, push it down with your hands or a spoon to flatten it.
If you are going to put lollipop sticks in them, make sure they are around 2 inches thick. If they are too thin, they will break. Let cool for 30 minutes.

7. Cut out your shapes with a cookie cutter and melt your chocolate or candy coating. We used vanilla CandiQuik because it’s quick and easy. You throw it in the microwave for 60 seconds. Stir and it’s ready for drizzling! Take a nice big scoop of your candy coating and let it drizzle over your shapes. Then, sprinkle!

8. Take your lollipop stick and dip it one end into the coating. Push it into the treat and your done! We let these cool for another 20 minutes before enjoying.

These are a perfect and easy treat for a 4th celebration -or any celebration for that matter! I used this recipe for our Pirate Birthday Party and they were a hit! There is even some leftover pieces to snack on!
