Q-Tip Painted Fall Trees

Fall has officially begun. I love getting into the festivities! We already harvested our pumpkins and decorated the porch with them. Today, we celebrated the equinox (a few days late) with these Q-Tip Painted Fall Trees.

You will need:
Q-Tips
Paint
Cardstock or Paper
Paint brushes

I cut cardstock sheets in half to make our trees. We started with a wide paint brush to paint the trunk. Then, we used a smaller paintbrush to add branches.

I put a dab of red, red-orange, yellow, coral, golden yellow, brown and green paint on old playdough tops. The kids dipped their Q-Tips in the paint and touched it to the paper to create leaves.

After you paint on your leaves, you can take a Q-Tip and gently dab over your leaves to lightly blend the circles. I think it makes a really pretty effect.

Here’s a cute video explaining why leaves change colors in the fall.
