Ice Painting

Man this week has been a hot one! We have been doing everything to stay cool – playing with our water table, jumping in the pool and today we made Ice Paints! This is seriously the perfect summer craft-ivity. We did our paints on the driveway where it was nice and hot.

We used an old plastic egg carton and a silicone mold to make our ice paints. The kids dropped a few drops of food coloring in each mold and I filled them with water. Then, we placed small sticks in each one for a handle.

We put them in the freezer and a few hours later we popped them out onto a baking sheet. I gave the kids a bunch of cardstock paper and they got to painting!

If you have special silicone shaped molds, you can do stamps! Pick up the frozen mold and place it on the paper for a few seconds. Ours melted quickly with the hot driveway underneath.

This dude likes to get messy. Miss 5 managed to not get any on her! My kind of girl.

This is a great, easy activity for the kids on a hot summer day!
