Spooky Food Guessing Game

I’m so excited for all things fall this year! The kids are at an age where they really immerse themselves into the fun and it’s extra special doing holiday activities with them. This Spooky Food Guessing Game was the perfect start to our fall festivities!

You will need:
Pickles
Square Gum (we used Eclipse Polar Ice)
Spaghetti
Black Olives
Marshmallows
5 Bowls
Blindfolds (or aluminum foil over sunglasses if you don’t have any, ha!)

Life Size Captain Jack Sparrow

Keep scrolling for a ton more spooky food ideas and an update!

Put each food in it’s own bowl and label them with spooky name tags. We used Eclipse Polar Ice Gum as Skeleton Teeth, Pickles as Fingers, Black Olives as Eyeballs, warmed up Marshmallows as Ghost Ectoplasm and Spaghetti as Worms!

We started with Skeleton Teeth. Mr 2 was quick to taste test! Miss 4 was MUCH more reserved with her exploring. It was funny watching her squirm as she stuck her hand into a bowl of “fingers!”

Of course, the Ghost Ectoplasm was their favorite. It took them a minute to realize it was marshmallows.

This is a great sensory activity. It was so much fun watching them try and guess what it was that they were feeling. I only wish I was able to try it from their perspective!

**UPDATE**

For the last 2 years, we have set up a no mess version of this game in paper bags at our homeschool co-op’s Halloween party. The kids love sticking their hands in to see what’s inside. To set it up, I cut the paper bags so they are shorter and easier for little arms to reach into. The children are instructed to not look and try and guess what it is they are feeling!

Here’s what’s inside the 2022 & 2023 bags:
Spider Legs – Pipe Cleaners
Rat Poop – Raisins
Goblin Ears – Peach Gummies
Skeleton Teeth – Gum
Bones – Pretzels
Finger nails – Sliced Almonds (2022) and Pumpkin Seeds (2023)
Ghost Poop – Mini Marshmallows
Troll Toes – Mini Carrots
Zombie Skin – Cut Up Balloons
Witch’s Hair – Yarn
Ogre Skin – Snap Pea Pods (take out the peas)
Ghost Ectoplasm – Cotton Stuffing
