Paper Plate Colored Lenses

Ready for the easiest craft-ivity ever that will actually have your kids engaged?! Paper Plate Colored Lenses! We made these before going outside to try and make a fire with our new Ferro Rod, which was super cool by the way… The kids loved watching the fire through the different colored lenses.

You will need:
Paper Plates
Cellophane

Simply cut out the middle of the plate and tape on a piece of cellophane.

Try holding different colors together to see what color it makes.

Can you make a shade that looks like you are wearing sunglasses? How about a color that looks like the sun is shining bright?

By experimenting with different colors and patterns of cellophane on the paper plate, children can see how different colors interact with each other.

This morning we went to our Homeschool Co-op Preschool Class and brought these with us. What a hit! The kids were carrying them around, checking everything out under a colored lense. We looked at a foam snowman, a white ornament and a white stuffed animal through the lenses to see what colors we could change them into.

A paper plate with the center cut out and a piece of cellophane taped on to create a colorful lens.
