Easy Alphabet Sensory Bin – No Mess Preschool Letter Activity
If you’re looking for a fun, hands-on way to work on letter recognition, this Fox in Socks inspired sensory bin is a huge hit!
This activity turns learning into a game. Kids get to help the fox organize his socks by finding and matching letters, all while building important fine motor skills.
And, they love it! Our preschool class was asking for “the sock game” the following Monday.
The Idea: Help the Fox Organize His Socks
In this activity, kids become little helpers for the fox!
Their job:
– Find matching letter socks
– Pick them up using tweezers
– Drop them in the Fox’s closet

What We Used
This is a low mess sensory bin, so everything is easy to clean up.
Base:
Items inside:
– Printed paper socks with letters (download below)
– Tweezers for picking up socks
Sorting closet:
– A cardboard box with a slot (I used a box cutter to cut a slot)
– Printable closet

Why This Activity Works So Well
✔ Letter Recognition
Kids are actively:
identifying letters
matching uppercase/lowercase (if you choose)
making connections through play
✔ Fine Motor Skills
Using tweezers helps build:
hand strength
coordination
control
These are important skills for writing later on.

Print the letter socks and the matching box template to get started here.
