Decorate Your Butterfly Symmetrically
Spring is in the air and we have been watching our little caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies! We used this FREE Life Cycle Of A Butterfly Resource to learn about our butterflies and make a journal about our observations. Then we colored symmetrical butterflies with this cute worksheet!
Kids can decorate each wing to match the other, helping them understand the concept of symmetry through hands-on creativity. It’s perfect for early learners and adds a little art and observation to your homeschool day or classroom routine. Plus, it’s a great quiet-time or rainy-day activity with just a splash of color and imagination!

To demonstrate symmetry you can give directions like this:
Color the top left wing pink and top right wing pink as well.
Add a red circle in the center of each top wing.
Color the bottom wings yellow, and place a green triangle in the same spot on both sides.
Color the body a darker color to contrast the bright wings.
Color the antennas the same color, such as purple.
- Add a cute face for your butterfly!
Each side should mirror the other exactly – same colors, shapes, and placement.
