Lake George Camping Village & Wild Waters Rafting Adventure

We spent an unforgettable 2 days camping at Lake George Camping Village and taking on the Hudson River with Wild Waters. Between toasting s’mores by the campfire, swimming in the heated outdoor pool, and braving the whitewater rapids, this was an awesome family getaway.

LAKE GEORGE CAMPING VILLAGE

Lake George Camping Village is located just outside of town but feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. The area feels secluded and is heavily wooded from the playground area to the campsites.

We chose site 100 because it was right next to the amenities. This site was pretty private with trees all around us. It had water, electric, and sewer hookup. Our inTech Trailer doesn’t have a bathroom so we used the bathrooms at the campground. They were very well cared for and clean.

After setting up camp we were all starving, so we fired up the Dometic Stove and cooked up some juicy hamburgers to kick off our stay.

We were able to hook our Joocla Hottap V2 directly into the campground’s water hookup, which was super convenient, no need to mess with filling jerry cans to keep a steady flow. With the strong water pressure, we did have to dial it down a bit so the heater could keep up, but overall it worked great. And boy do I love a hot, clean shower after a long day in the Adirondacks.

The game room at Lake George Camping Village was really cool. It had Ping Pong, Air Hockey, Cornhole, Pool, and Foosball – all perfect for winding down after a day outside. The whole place smelled like cedar, and there was even a cozy fireplace with chairs around it, which I imagine is perfect in the winter. A staff member even came by with fresh paddles and pushers for the ping pong and air hockey tables, which was a really nice touch.

The campground has a large heated outdoor pool and a spacious kiddie pool. The water was clean, though it could’ve used a bit of skimming, which we gladly did ourselves. My husband and kids are total fish, so the pool was a big reason we chose this campground, and they had a great time.

Of course we brought our Camping Scavenger Hunt with us. These are perfect for when you are setting up or hanging out around the campsite and the kids start to get bored.

We used our Black Beard Fire Starter to get the campfire going, and our son gave the ferro rod a try for the first time. He was getting frustrated at first, but after a short break and a quick pep talk, he got the fire going on his first try. The pride on his face said it all. Moments like this are exactly why we do these trips with our kids. They’re more than just fun, they’re confidence builders and hands-on lessons.

WILD WATERS

The next morning we went white water rafting on the Hudson River with Wild Waters. We had so much fun. We chose the Rip to the Glen 7 mile trip because it was beginner friendly and this was our children’s first time trying white water rafting. My husband and I have done white water rafting in West Virginia which was very thrilling. This was definitely more mellow but still a really fun ride. The kids loved it and can’t wait to do it again.

Our guide Cade was awesome and let us explore some of the islands and swim on the beaches.

Back at the Wild Waters starting point, there is a little shop with souvenirs and bathrooms.

LAKE GEORGE TOWN

Million Dollar Beach has awesome views. Unfortunately, the main beach area was still closed for the season when we went but it looks like a nice spot for families to swim and enjoy the area.

The strip was filled with souvenir shops, arcades, mini golf, a Frankenstein Museum, a carousel, ice cream parlors, and more. We aren’t really into the shopping scene, but if you are, you will definitely find plenty to do here.

We stopped at Barnsider Smoke House after our white water rafting trip and it was delicious! Originally, we were heading to a steakhouse but this restaurant looked like a cozy cabin which is totally our style. If you like BBQ, you should definitely check out Barnsider Smoke House!
